Hello and welcome! This is our first Northern Prosthetics blog post, one of many more to come. Here we hope to inspire and inform you on all things prosthetic so step inside and make yourself comfortable...
As we wind things up for 2014 (my how time flies!) it's been great to reflect on the happenings at Northern Prosthetics over the year...
Our new website marks a digital refreshment for us, and one that we hope will benefit you too. We have added some new links in our resources section so check em out and find some support for yourself or a loved one, we will be updating this as we come across new info so keep dropping by. You can also now connect with us on instagram and have a little sticky beak into the daily goings on at NP in pictorial form.
It's been a busy year making functional arm and leg prosthetics, we hear some incredible stories and face many interesting challenges in getting an amputee mobile again. Thanks to all involved in this process, not least the amputees themselves! We will be sharing some more stories of peoples experience next year.
Late this year marked Peter's first limb prosthetic clinic at Maclean district hospital. We look forward to seeing more local amputees from this area in 2015. Feel free to contact us if you would like some more details.
In other news the fantastic spoonful magazine published by the Arts Health Institute have done a wonderful feature on Sophie's prosthetic work in their latest issue. Click on the link for a sneak peek or hassle your newsagent for one. We love this new magazine with it's beautiful images and stories focusing on the arts in health.
Our prosthetic retreat has also kept us busy this year making prosthetic fingers, facial parts, and limbs with visitors travelling from all over the country. Judging by the amount of relaxing going on between appointments most people had some nice time out looking at the view and visiting Byron between fittings. Leaving looking quite a bit less stressed than on arrival. A big thank you to everyone tolerating the construction in the work shop too.
Speaking of the construction, our new consultation space is finished! Checkout our beautiful new rooms at Northern Prosthetics Headquarters, complete with views and giant work table (ok yes it is also a pool/ping pong table, but these are necessary pieces of prosthetic testing equipment don't you agree?). See you here in the new year!
