Meet the Clinicians: ERIN HERD

Erin joined the Northern Prosthetics team after relocating back home to Coffs Harbour from the big smoke to find a better work/life balance. Erin is currently our sole Clinician at our Coffs workshop, so we thank her for taking some time out of her busy schedule to answer some questions for us!

How did you get into Prosthetics & Orthotics? After initially taking an interest in the Sydney 2000 Paralympics, I studied Biomedical Engineering in Connecticut, USA and then a Masters of P&O at La Trobe in Melbourne.

What are your favourite sorts of jobs?  Those jobs that are a little bit outside the box and take a little extra effort or creativity. Jobs like a fishing arm or a gym leg, or a creative socket design to meet the client’s needs.

What do you find most rewarding about your job? Finding a solution that suits the client’s needs and allowing them to do something they didn’t think was possible.

What do you love about working at NP? That it’s at home in Coffs! 😊

And finally, what is a fun fact about you?  I foster rescue dogs. (Everyone appreciates the cuteness explosion when Erin is fostering puppies!)

Thanks for letting us get to know you a little better, Erin!
