Peter Farrand

Director & Senior Prosthetist

Ballina

Peter Farrand

Pete has been servicing the needs of the amputees and people with limb deficiencies for over 30 years. As the leading Prosthetist in the region, he has strong relationships with Allied Health Care professionals. He has an excellent reputation for service excellence and product quality.

He is a keen sportsman who loves to surf, swim and ski as often as possible. He is always looking for new solutions to enable his clients to get back into their sporting and lifestyle choices. One of his highlights includes accompanying Marty Mayberry at the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver where Marty achieved a silver medal in the downhill event.

Peter Lewis

General Manager

Ballina

Peter Lewis

Peter has been with Northern Prosthetics since its inception, running the administration of the business on a part time basis, whilst also running his own small business for 10 years. As his role within the company expanded, he sold his business and has been working solely with Northern Prosthetics since 2017.

A family man, Peter loves to spend time outdoors: surfing, walking, fishing and skiing whenever he has the chance. He enjoys being part of the team and seeing the great outcomes that Northern Prosthetics provides to the Amputees of the region.

Imogen Dingle

Senior Prosthetist & Clinical Services Manager

Ballina

Imogen Dingle

Imogen joined the team in 2016 after working at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Queensland and Caulfield Hospital in Victoria. With over 10 years’ clinical experience in prosthetics, she is passionate about working closely with clients to achieve the best outcome for each individual.

Imogen finds her role extremely rewarding, enjoying the time spent getting to know her clients and their families and being able to provide well fitting, functional and good-looking prosthetic solutions to facilitate their goals and aspirations. She has always appreciated the ‘messy’ side of the job, working with plaster and manufacturing sockets, this being a big draw card for her to study prosthetics and orthotics at LaTrobe University all those years ago.

Imogen is a keen surfer and all-round beach attendee. She likes working on her veggie patch and cooking, but most of all she loves spending time with her family and friends. Having welcomed her son into the world in 2020, she is currently working on finding the elusive ‘balance’ between work and parenthood.

Lauren Ljiljak

Prosthetist & Orthotist

Ballina

Lauren Ljiljak

Lauren graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics in 2009 and completed a Master of Public Health in 2022. She has a background in paediatric and adult orthotic management, and is excited to be increasing her prosthetic case load.

Lauren has taught in tertiary programs at La Trobe University and the Tanzanian Training Centre for Orthopaedic Technologists. She has held management, advocacy and advisory positions in Malawi and the Philippines and is passionate about developing the field of prosthetics and orthotics, and ensuring access to high quality services for people in regional and remote areas.

She enjoys spending her spare time in, on and under the water.

Virginia Lennard

Prosthetist & Orthotist

Ballina

Virginia Lennard

Virginia joined the team in 2020 with a degree from LaTrobe and extensive prosthetic and orthotic experience working in Wollongong and the UK.  She loves to get the best outcomes for her clients, seeing them exceed their own expectations.

Outside of work, she enjoys playing soccer and exploring the regions hiking trails.

Erin Herd

Prosthetist & Orthotist

Coffs Harbour

Erin Herd

Erin joined the team in 2017 when she moved back to her home town of Coffs Harbour and set up our workshop on the Coffs Coast. Erin started her P & O journey while on a sporting scholarship in the USA where she completed an Undergraduate in Biomedical Engineering with a focus in prosthetics. She then returned to Australia to continue her education and graduated from Latrobe University with a Masters in Clinical Prosthetics and Orthotics in 2013. Erin gained experience in Sydney and brings all that knowledge with her as well as the attitude to continually improve client outcomes and experiences.

It was Erin’s interest in the outdoors, particularly surfing, that first enticed her back to her home town. But it was high in the Nepalese mountains volunteering for Prosthetics without Borders, that NP owner Peter Farrand enlisted her to set up Coffs Harbour’s first local Prosthetics and Orthotics workshop under the Northern Prosthetics banner.

Erin thrives on being part of the tight knit community and being able to provide a professional specialist service to the region she grew up in. After moving away from the city, she understands the need to balance lifestyle and work commitments so if you can’t find her in the workshop, have a look in the waves.

Joshua Hidalgo

Production Manager & Senior Technician

Ballina

Joshua Hidalgo

Joshua had been in the industry for 17 years before joining the NP team in 2022.  He started out as a trainee, while completing the prosthetics and orthotics technician course.  Subsequently he has worked with private and public clinics in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, acting as technician, technical service manager and production manager.  We are lucky to be able to learn from Joshua’s extensive experience.

Learning and sharing knowledge and experience is what Joshua enjoys most about his work at NP.  When he’s not at work, he loves the outdoors.  You’ll find him hiking, camping, kayaking, sitting around a bonfire with his family or even mowing the lawn on his beloved ride-on mower.

Karl Cottrell

Technician

Ballina

Karl Cottrell

Karl joined the team as a technician in 2021.  His 17 years as a newspaper printer, combined with a lifetime working with his hands on bicycles and building things at home qualified him perfectly to get stuck into working with plaster, manufacturing sockets and creating bespoke, well-fitting prosthetics and orthotics.

Karl is a bike fiend.  Outside of work you will find him riding motorbikes, mountain bikes, BMX – pretty much anything with two wheels.

Tori Clark

Administration

Coffs Harbour

Tori Clark

Tori joined the team in 2022 with many years administrative experience in retail and health (including a stint in a podiatry clinic, where she dipped her toe into the waters of orthotics).  She loves the positive environment and awesome team at NP.  But most of all she loves getting to know our incredible clients, hearing their stories and being a part of their journeys.

A real all-rounder, Tori has qualifications in fitness and is currently working toward a Diploma of Interior Design & Decoration (we think our Coffs Harbour office might be in for a face lift!).  When not at work, she enjoys fitness, snowboarding, camping and 4 wheel driving, travelling in general and hanging out with her dog Ollie.

Anna Nesbitt

Administration

Ballina

Anna Nesbitt

Anna joined the NP team at our Ballina office in early 2023 and has fit right into both the role & the team! She enjoys being part of a friendly & skilled team, while learning more about Prosthetics & Orthotics and getting to know our wonderful clients.

Having previously worked for YHA UK – a not-for-profit hostel network that supports disadvantaged children & families to go on new adventures – as well as volunteering at Newbold House in the North-East of Scotland, Anna brings a wealth of people-centric customer service to her role.

Outside of work you will find Anna spending quality time with her partner & two children, and trying to locate the best pizza in the Northern Rivers (feel free to give her your tips!). If Anna didn’t already sound busy enough, she is also studying a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Sociology.

Matthew Sutherland

Accounts

Ballina

Matthew Sutherland

Matthew has a Diploma in Accounting and is a Registered Tax Agent and has been managing our accounts since 2022.  Prior to joining NP, he was self-employed, handling the accounts for several small and medium sized business.  He loves the fun environment at NP and is particularly appreciative of the quality coffee machine.

Don’t think that Matthew is just a “boring accountant”.  He used to run a not-for-profit business offering music program in schools for at risk Aboriginal children.  And his big passion outside of work is Ultimate Frisbee.
