If you know Northern Prosthetics, you know Pete – having founded NP back in 2011, Pete is the backbone of our team. Mainly based out of our Ballina workshop, you will also find Pete making guest appearances at all of our clinics and also regularly at our Coffs workshop. Pete is always sharing his knowledge as a mentor for both our Clinicial & Technical teams, as well as servicing clients across all our locations. We asked him a few rapid-fire questions so you can get to know him a little better!
How long have you been working in the industry & what inspired you to get involved? The old-man was a WWII digger, which was my initial inspiration, and I’ve been in the industry for over 30 years now.
What do you find most rewarding about your job? Getting a smile & a thumbs up from clients when fitting their new sockets, and being able to help amputees with their prosthetic needs in general.
What are your specialties or favourite sorts of jobs? I love anything lower extremity.
What do you love most about working at NP? The NP staff. (Short & sweet, but this is obvious to all of us as Pete is a wonderful mentor & support for our entire team).
What is one of your work highlights? Accompanying Marty Mayberry to the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver – Marty won silver in the downhill event.
To wrap it up, what are your hobbies outside of work? The ocean, snow & travelling.
We hope you enjoyed learning a little more about our founder, and make sure you say hello next time you run into Pete at the workshop or clinic!
