Meet the Technicians: JOSH HIDALGO

Josh is our Production Manager & Senior Technician, who shares his time between our Ballina workshop & his home workshop in QLD. Josh has been in the industry for 17 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and a never-ending enthusiasm to the workshop. We asked him a few rapid-fire questions so you can get to know a little more about him.

How did you get into Prosthetics & Orthotics? I saw an advertisement in the newspaper for a traineeship program with a company called ALC. I studied Prosthetics & Orthotics at Sydney Tech College for 3 years.

What are your specialties or favourite types of jobs? I love all types of laminations, upper limb prosthetics, shaping foam covers, repairs & troubleshooting complex jobs.

What is your favourite part of the process of making a prosthetic limb? The fitting stage – getting to see the client’s positive reaction to the end-product that’s been created.

What do you find most rewarding about your job? The appreciation from clients & team of the hard work and effort put into the fabrication process.

What do you love about working at NP? The atmosphere & the staff.

Where are we likely to find you outside of work? Camping, going on adventures or making a mean BBQ (Picture below of the BBQ king himself!)

And finally, if you had to choose a theme song, what would it be? Calvin Harris – I’m Not Alone (radio edit version).

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Josh a little better – say hello next time you see him around the Ballina workshop (and ask about those BBQ tips!)
